What is a Sinus Lift?
Sinus Lift Surgery is a procedure that recaptures bone height in the posterior maxilla (upper jaw). There is a small bony window that is established allowing the doctor to detah and elecvate the Sinus. A bone graft is then placed in the area and ove the next 3-6 months the bone will regenerate with adequate bone height.
When is a Sinus Lift needed?
A Sinus Lift is needed when a patient presents with an upper molar region that has inadequate bone height. In most cases it is due to missing teeth over long periods of time. Periodontal disease and boneloss around a tooth may lead to the need of a sinus lift as well.
